REGISTRATION: All entries must be registered and paid online at zone4.

DEADLINE: Registrations are accepted until Wednesday, Feb 5 at 6 PM (Mountain Time).

ENTRY FEES:

  • $15 per race for children under 8

  • $25 per race for youth under 20 and Special Olympics

  • $55 per race for adults

  • Note that $3 Nordiq Canada fee per registrant per day, GST taxes and Zone4 fees will be added to this amount.

  • Note that entry fees also include a hot lunch.

WAIVER FORMS: Waiver forms must be accepted at the time of registration.

BIB PICKUP: Pick up your bibs from 9:30 - 10:30 in the Dawn Mountain Chalet each day.

COURSE MAPS: Course maps will be posted at Dawn Mountain Chalet by January 5. The courses are hilly!

PARKING: Please follow the directions given by the Parking Officials. LEAVE EARLY TO ALLOW FOR TRAVEL, PARKING and WAXING. You may need to ski or walk 200m from the parking area.

WAXING: Waxing is NOT allowed in the Dawn Mountain Chalet. Power cords can plug into the outside power boxes. Wax tents can be set up near the Chalet or Stadium. Tents are not provided. Wax testing is allowed until 15 min before event starts.

AID STATIONS: An aid station (drinks, food, first aid) will be placed at intervals of 10k or less.

SPORTMANSHIP: Non-racing skiers will be using the trails during the Loppet. We ask that you ski with courtesy. Passing by a slower skier is done with lane changes, not tracking. Slower skiers stay right.

LUNCH: All entrants and volunteers will be treated to a hot buffet lunch. You must provide a ticket. Skiers who turn in their bibs will be given a lunch ticket. Lunch tickets are available to the public for $15 (ages 13+). Under 13: $5.

TIMING: Chip timing will be used, with ankle bracelets. Bracelets must be returned directly after the event to avoid a $100 fee for the bracelet. Skiers will be timed according to the class in which they are registered. 

LICENCE: Nordiq Canada requires the purchase of a $3 race licence for the Loppet as part of the registration process.

RULES: We follow Nordiq Canada rules. NO SKATING IN THE CLASSIC EVENT. This policy will be enforced.

BIB/CHIP RETURN: Return your race bib and chip at the finish line where you will receive your ticket for a hot lunch. PLEASE REPORT TO THE BIB COLLECTORS AT THE FINISH AREA IF YOU DO NOT COMPLETE (OR START) THE COURSE. $100 FEE FOR UNRETURNED CHIPS/BIBS.

GIFTS & AWARDS: Special welcome gifts for first-time Huckleberry Loppet participants. There will be draw prizes. We will have a silent auction. Payments can be with cash or credit card. Beautiful, handmade ceramic medallions for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in all categories above U10.  All U10 participants will receive tasty awards.

FACILITIES: Dawn Mountain Chalet has chairs, tables, kitchenette, change room, and bathrooms. There is an outhouse in the parking lot. An electric charging station in the parking lot with limited access during the event. The Owl’s Roost is a trailside cabin where the non-timed participants are invited for a campfire, hot drinks, and snacks.

TRAIL PASSES: Race entry fees include full access to the trails for race day only. Trail fees must be paid for all other skiers either online or in person with Chalet staff inside Dawn Mountain Chalet.

CHILDREN: Children can play in the playpark during and after the events.

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE:

  • Call Dawn Mountain Chalet 250.439.9879 for assistance.

  • There is a medical attendant at the Dawn Mountain Chalet.

  • A controller with radio located less than 6k from any point on the 15/10k courses.

  • Controllers with radios are identified on the course.

  • A skier with a radio will ski the course as sweeper.

  • All bibs are accounted for daily.

  • If you become ill or sustain injury: seek assistance from or get word to the nearest controller. Remain with the controller until they arrange to escort you off the course.

  • If you should encounter a skier in need of medical assistance on the course:

  • Provide comfort and, if qualified, provide first aid/CPR as required.

  • Upon arrival of a fellow skier, one of you stays with the injured skier while the other proceeds to the closest radio location. Take note of the location of the injured skier from trail signs and relay as much pertinent information to the radio operator as possible. Appropriate assistance will move to action as soon as the call comes from the radio operator.

  • There are blue barrels along the course with blankets and first aid supplies.

  • One of you is to remain with injured skier until medical assistance arrives.
